THE ROOFING PROCESS WITH COWBOYS ROOFING
We kick off the re-roofing process with a well-organized and efficient setup of our equipment to ensure a smooth workflow.
Trailer & Dump – Our modular cap truck transports all necessary tools and materials to your home.
Debris Removal – A mobile dump bin is used to collect and transport old roofing materials to a city recycling center.
Crane Assistance – A crane lifts the new roofing materials onto the roof for easy access.
Old Roof Removal – The existing roofing materials are carefully stripped away, and the roof deck is swept clean of any debris.
Material Placement – The new roofing materials are strategically positioned on the roof to prevent movement or damage to the roof trusses.
Wood Deck Inspection & Replacement – We thoroughly inspect the roof deck to ensure it provides a solid nailing surface. Any rotten or damaged wood is replaced before underlayments are installed, preparing the deck for the new roofing system.
Our skilled and dedicated full-time team installs a high-quality, storm-resistant material along the first six feet from your eaves, as well as in areas of the roof that are more prone to future water issues. This includes areas around plumbing and air vents, as well as under valleys and along adjacent walls.
The rest of the decking is covered with a breathable synthetic underlayment designed to enhance ventilation. Once the underlayment is applied, we install a protective metal edge at the eaves (and gable ends, if desired) and starter strips along the eaves, gables, and valleys to ensure maximum durability and water resistance.
We install metal valleys on top of the storm-resistant underlayment, taking great care to ensure that water flows efficiently through the valleys and away from your roof. This process is crucial in preventing water from pooling or backing up, which could lead to leaks or damage over time. Metal valleys offer superior durability and create a seamless path for water to travel, significantly reducing the risk of ice buildup during colder months. This is especially important in regions prone to freezing temperatures, as ice dams can cause significant roof damage if not properly managed.
To ensure the valleys are perfectly shaped and angled, we use chalk lines to mark precise guidelines across the deck. These lines act as a reference point to ensure that every piece is installed at the correct angle and with the proper alignment. This attention to detail ensures that the valleys are not only functional but also visually cohesive with the rest of the roof. The chalk lines guide the installation of the shingles, ensuring that they follow the valleys correctly and that the roof's overall structure is built for maximum performance and longevity.
Once the deck is fully prepared, we ensure that every aspect of the surface is properly sealed, leaving no possibility for water to penetrate through the protective layer resting on the wood decking. This crucial step guarantees that your home remains safeguarded from water damage, with a solid foundation ready for the next phase. With the protective layer in place, we begin the careful installation of the shingles.
The shingles we use are a modern, high-performance product designed to offer enhanced durability and protection. Unlike older, paper-based shingles, these advanced shingles provide superior resistance to harsh weather conditions, including wind, rain, and snow. They are crafted with cutting-edge materials that not only improve the longevity of the roof but also offer better protection against leaks, ensuring that your home stays dry and secure for years to come. The result is a roofing system that outperforms traditional shingles in both strength and reliability, providing peace of mind for homeowners.
As we approach the final stages of your roofing project, we carefully install new wall flashing to provide a solid, watertight seal around areas where the roof meets the walls. We also meticulously caulk the vents, plumbing stacks, and any other areas that could potentially allow water to seep through and compromise the integrity of the decking.
Before we consider the job complete, our site supervisors conduct thorough quality checks on every aspect of the installation. Our installation crew ensures all the details are carefully executed, while our ground crew works diligently to clean the site, leaving it in better condition than when we arrived.
The project is not finished until a final inspection is conducted by a manager or supervisor. We make sure everything meets our high standards, and more importantly, we wait for your confirmation that you are completely satisfied with your new roof. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we won't consider the job done until you’re fully pleased with the results.
